Do you know how to create a search screen to search for consolidation patterns? I'm particularly interested in finding stocks whose daily trading ranges are shrinking and forming a triangle.
Any other patterns would be helpful as well.
BTW, your "flat tops" search string got me into CECO. That was worth the price of admission!

Thats a tough one. We don't currently have indicators that
find shrinking ranges (That flat top search is basically a shrinking
range).
Under the search tool you may want to tinker with month trend,
resistance/support and short term direction. The combination
of a small up month trend, with double or higher resistance and
a small up short term direction may do it.
I'll take a look at consolidation patterns and see if I can come up
with a search strng...
Thanks,
Dan

Dan,
I'm also curious about the "flat top" pattern, which if I understand correctly is where the upper range of price movements are bound by a resistance level, and the lower prices ascend towards it until the breakout occurs.
Is there a way to find such patterns from the PreScreener, other than look for the breakout patters and visually check each one out?
TIA,

psihoover,
FlatTop breakouts have been added to the PreScreener searches.
They are breakouts (watches and confirmed) that are at resistance (or resistance/support type unknown) that also have a Flat month trend.
You can examine the difference between a regular
breakout and a FlatTop breakout by selecting the PreScreener
search pulldown menu in "SearchTool". You can also modify
any exsisting PreScreener searches under SearchTool.

Hi Dan,
Thanks for the information about finding flat tops, and the tip regarding modifications to the PreScreener using SearchTool.
As a "Casual User", the SearchTool is not accessible when I'm logged in. It is available, however, when I don't sign in. I'm assuming in this situation I couldn't save the SearchTool screening characteristics for use in the Prescreener unless I signed up for "Power User"? If that is true, does the limit of how many consultings within a given time apply to the Search Tool also?

Full SearchTool use is only available for "Power" user memberships.
The Free SearchTool is limited in output to 2 results per search.
